Alternative rock act Salon de la Guerre takes a turn into country music, trying to find the musical and spiritual connections among the Carter Family, Gram Parsons, Sonic Youth and Brian Eno, if connections there are. To this end, Eric Rasmussen, Salon de la Guerre's sole writer-performer, employs alternatively tuned guitar, piano, synthesized fiddle and, in his first performance on the instrument ever, the banjo. The lyrics follow, as usual, the accounts of drifters and nonconformists succumbing to a world of deadly sins and yet always reaching toward hope and self-actualization.
